Crocodile leather and footwear go together like peanut butter and jelly. The rare, luxurious textile is making an appearance on New Balance’s Made in UK 991 this season, donning a smooth cream white color for the occasion.
Luxury elements in casual footwear is nothing new to New Balance, who has built an entire sub-brand around bringing quality textiles and elite craftsmanship to their sneakers. Their MADE program brings special materials to a host of different silhouettes, all of which are assembled by hand in one of their factories in either the United Kingdom or the USA. This week, the 991 runner has surfaced with an even more luxurious style, dressed to the nines in crocodile leather. Once a status symbol of unimaginable luxury, this pair is likely not made with real crocodile leather, given the material’s processing needs and steep costs. The style is coated in a slick cream white shade, with small Oyster Grey accents sprinkled in.
