New Balance’s 991 silhouette has been popping up in plenty of new colorways this year, in celebration of the silhouette’s 20th anniversary. Today, we are taking a closer look at a new Made in UK release, highlighted in lush brown suede.

The sneaker community is still largely fixated on New Balance 992 anniversary celebration from 2020, waiting with bated breath for the latest in the Boston brand’s excellent string of collaboration and special projects from the past 12 months. However, fans of the brand will also be quick to note that 2021 marks 20 years of another classic 99X family member, the 991. Luckily for us, New Balance has been releasing low-key hits with the 991 all year long, crafting excellent new colorways in the brand’s Flimby, England production facility. This week, the lads across the pond released their latest iteration, decking out the 991 in contrasting blue and brown tones. The look begins with a deep navy-toned mesh, while gunmetal grey midlayers separate the base from the deep brown suede overlays.

New Balance’s latest colorway of the vintage 991 runner to hit shelves made its debut overseas at Asphalt Gold this week, where they are still available in a variety of sizes. Made in the brand’s Flimby, UK, factory, this 991 comes with an elevated price tag of $240, and will likely launch globally in the coming weeks.
