New Balance’s 610 still has some gas in the tank for its current retro run. After the debut of the slip-on 610S version last year, the Boston brand has a new two-pack with plush uppers, coming soon.
New Balance revived their 610 trail running shoe early last year, inviting their stable of collaborators to design their takes on the performance model. JoeFreshGoods, Amine, and Bodega all released limited-edition styles of the shoe, each of which were lauded for their unique looks. Then, in Fall, the brand’s Tokyo Design Studio introduced their version of the shoe, a slip-on laceless 610S.
Since the debut of the TDS take on the 610, the slip-on style has remained elusive, only appearing again in a three-piece collaboration with Aminé. Now, New Balance has some more in-line colors coming later in 2024. This version of the shoe swaps out the multi-layered upper for a single piece of plush mesh, with stitching lines to replace where overlays once were. For this release, the shoe is cast in tonal black or grey color schemes.
