New Balance is gearing up to celebrate the brand’s unofficial “Grey Day” holiday, honoring decades of NB’s creativity and influence through their signature grey color scheme. Check out the Tokyo Design Studio’s take on the 574, releasing this week.

New Balance’s second-annual ‘Grey Day’ celebration is on the horizon, paying homage to the brand’s signature grey colorways through a series of limited releases. Today, we have a closer look at an adaptation of the classic 574 runner from the brand’s Tokyo Design Studio, where they come up with some of the most innovative New Balance gear. The ‘TDS’ take on the 574 opts for a minimalist approach, removing excessive New Balance branding in favor of clean suede panels, while the typical 574 midsole has been removed entirely, and replaced with a sawtooth Vibram sole directly inspired by New Balance’s original performance running shoe, the Trackster. The Tokyo Design Studio New Balance 574 even features welted soles, adding another level of luxury quality to this everyday sneaker.
