New Balance’s 550 has remained one of their premier silhouettes since its return in 2020, issuing dozens of colorways throughout the last three years. Now, a new ‘Team Royal 2.0’ version has emerged, coming soon.
The 550 has been everywhere since its reintroduction to popular culture by Aimé Leon Dore in 2020. Having revived the retro basketball model for their debut collaboration with New Balance, ALD has since released nearly a dozen of their signature colorways, while New Balance continues to craft even more of their own in-line releases. Among the first drops of the 550 were classic ‘Team Red’ and ‘Team Royal’ palettes, the latter of which is set to received an updated 2.0 edition this year. The new look features a ‘Sea Salt’ off-white leather base for the midfoot, toe box sections, and heel counters, with black mesh for the collar and inner lining. Black piping also appears on the midfoot and heel clips, while the signature royal blue shade is added to the collars, branding, and outsoles.

New Balance’s latest colorway of their popular 550 model has not been announced for release, though they are expected to launch sometime early in 2023. The reworked ‘Team Royal’ color scheme will be available via the brand’s website for $120.
