New Balance’s retro 550 basketball oxford continues to arrive in new colorways this month, giving fans a better shot at getting their hands on a pair nearly a year after its reintroduction. Check out the fresh colorways in yellow, burgundy, and black, coming soon.

New Balance continues to unveil new colorways of the vintage 550 sneaker, adding onto the already mountainous hype the silhouette has created in the past year. The 550, a low-top leather basketball shoe from the late ’80s, first made its return last year, in collaboration with New York’s Aimé Leon Dore. While new colorways were hard to come by for many months afterward, likely due to COVID-related shipping delays, New Balance finally seems to be on top of things, releasing fresh versions on a seemingly monthly basis so far in 2021. This week, we have a closer look at the brand’s three latest iterations to surface on their release calendar, casting the shoe in a white leather “Sea Salt” base before adding accent colors in your choice of Varsity Gold, Burgundy, and plain Black.

New Balance’s latest standard-issue colorways of the retro 550 basketball shoe have been slated to drop later this week, on May 7th, 2021. Available in your choice of Varsity Gold, Burgundy, or Black, each set against a ‘Sea Salt’ backdrop, these pairs retain the usual price tag of $120, releasing from both New Balance and select retailers. UPDATE 8/5/22: Another release of the simple black & white New Balance 550 is inbound next week, set for August 11th, 2022. Releasing alongside a number of other pairs we’ve already seen, the shoes will be available directly from the brand’s website for the usual $110.

UPDATE 1/8/22: New Balance’s re-release of the simple black and white 550 has now been delayed, and is currently slated to drop on January 25th, 2022 from

UPDATE 9/6/21: New Balance’s simple black & white color scheme of the fan-favorite 550 is now expected to release again in the coming weeks from both New Balance and select retailers. Slight differences in the color blocking can be seen by comparing new and old official imagery, for example, the pair from earlier this year features a grey suede mudguard while the upcoming release is plain white leather.
