New Balance’s retro 2002R runner is getting an upgrade this season, bringing a new premium look and feel to the fan-favorite model. The updated version will make its debut in the ‘Toast’ color scheme, coming soon.

New Balance’s releases of the 2002R runner have been almost uniform in their construction since the shoe’s return back in 2020. Featuring a mesh base layer with suede overlays, the silhouette is available in dozens of different color schemes, with plenty more on the way for the new year. However, the recently surfaced ‘Toast’ colorway seems to switch things up, crafting the retro model in a new premium construction. This time, the shoe’s base layer is made from entirely from full-grain leather, with luxurious suedes layered on top. While we expect to see more of this upgraded version, the ‘Toast’ brown colorway is likely to be the shoe’s debut, launching sometime later this season.
