The New Balance 2002R has been on fire since the “Protection” pack launched last Summer. Now, New Balance has a new special-edition release in store, which applies suede uppers to the 2002 in four exquisite colors, coming soon.
New Balance’s carefully calculated and measured approach to sneaker releases and limiting availability has paid off massively in recent years, as obtaining the latest popular NB release is akin to striking gold these days. Surprisingly, the brand has been pretty open about their practices, acknowledging their choices to keep initial releases extremely limited to drum up hype for future in-line drops. One remarkable example of this is the 2002R, which originally surfaced in 2020 before finally becoming widely available two years later in 2022. This week, the Boston brand is teasing a new limited-edition collection of the 2002, similar to last Summer’s release of the ‘Protection’ pack. This time, the 2002R will be available in four tonal color schemes, Forest Green, Red Wine, Hazy Blue, and Black Fig.
