atmos Tokyo has unveiled a special new pair of the New Balance 2002R this week, showing off a beautiful grey color scheme with new zippered stash pockets attached to the tongue, dropping next week.

New Balance’s 2002R is probably one of our favorite shoes on the market right now. From its initial high-profile collaborations to the excellent in-line colorways available, the 2002 can do it all. This week, we have an early glimpse at a new special-edition release of the vintage runner, which appears to be launching exclusively through Japanese retailer atmos. Dressed in a classic grey New Balance color scheme, the new look makes some interesting material changes, swapping out the typical mesh base layer for ripstop nylon, layering it with premium pigskin suede for a smooth finish. The most notable addition is the stash pocket affixed to the shoe’s tongues. Constructed from the same grey ripstop, the removable accessory features a bright orange backside, adding some color to the new pair.
