New Balance’s 2002R “Protection Pack” was such a massive hit last year that the Boston brand is running it back in a number of new colors, like this pre-aged white color scheme, coming soon.

Last year New Balance introduced an altered version of their popular 2002R runner, featuring jagged edges for every piece of the shoe’s complex layers. The result was a highly unique take on the 2002, showcasing how imperfections in design can still be quite attractive. The collection, featuring three colorways, was immensely popular amongst NB fans, being dubbed the “Protection Pack” somewhere along the long period of leaks before their launch. (The designer of the shoes went on to say he personally hated that name, and wished that his ‘Refined Future’ idea had trickled its way down to retailers for marketing.) Now, New Balance is taking this runaway train on a ride, pumping out a series of new color schemes based on both their classic colors, and some new styles, like the pre-aged pair seen here. Dressed in an all-white base with a gum outsole, this pair looks like it was kicked around in the dirt for a few hours before being boxed and sold.
