New Balance’s Gore-Tex-lined version of their 2002R runner has been in the works for some time, with a range of colorways expected to arrive in the near future. This week, a ‘Castlerock’ grey version joins the lineup.

Gore-Tex season has arrived if you live in a cold and rainy part of the world, requiring as much protection from wind and water as you can get for some. Luckily, sneaker brands are always happy to oblige, applying the waterproof textile to a number of their fan-favorite models each year. New Balance has been working on several Gore editions of their retro 2002R this year, which are finally set to release in the near future. Today, we have an early look at a new ‘Castlerock’ color scheme, which begins with a dark grey mesh base layer for the shoe. The mid layers are added in a warm grey shade, with a cement-like tone making up the suede outer portions. Hints of navy blue are added to the branding, as well as the mid and outsoles to complete the look.
