New Balance is rolling their Gore-Tex lined version of the 2002R back out for the Fall and Winter season. This week, we have an early look at a new “Black Olive” take on the model, coming soon.
New Balance first introduced their waterproofed version of the immensely popular 2002R back in 2022, through a limited collaboration with N.HOOLYWOOD and Invincible, before unleashing their in-line pairs in early 2023. The model applies a Gore-Tex membrane to the inside of the shoe to keep your feet as dry and warm as possible during the rainy season. This year, the model returns, with a few subtle changes to its design.
The first pair of NB’s 2024 2002R GTX has surfaced this week, showing off a few upgrades to the shoe’s materials and design. First off, the base layer of the upper replaces the usual mesh with a less porous ripstop textile. The toe caps have also been given a rubberized overlay for added protection and durability. This pair comes in an olive green build with black accents for some overlays, and a white sole to complete the look.
