New Balance’s ‘Protection Pack’ featuring the 2002R made waves last Summer as one of the hottest in-line releases of the year. Now, the pack’s crinkle-cut style is making its way to new silhouettes, like this 1906D colorway.
The New Balance ‘Protection Pack’ from 2021 was widely considered one of the best releases of the year, converting the fan-favorite 2002R from its clean cut look to a jagged, unique new style. While considered an in-line release, the shoes were near-impossible to get hands on, as they would pop-up and sell out at global retailers randomly all Summer long. And while we’ve seen new colorways of the 2002 continue to surface in recent months, it appears New Balance is trying out the ‘Protection’ style with other silhouettes, like their recent 1906. Seen here in a navy blue and grey color scheme, the 1906D (we are unsure what the different between the 1906D and 1906R is at this point) features the same jagged cuts around the edges of each panel. The upper also features a matte black heel counter, multi-layer ‘N’ logo, and is mounted on top of a cream white midsole.
