New Balance’s recent focus on the 990 franchise have robbed us of some of their other classic sneakers, like the ’80s 1600 runner. Now dressed in a soft ‘Beige’ color scheme, this new pair is expected to arrive later this year.

New Balance’s archives are filled with over a hundred years of footwear excellence, leaving the brand no shortage of inspiration and retro styles to uncover. While recent focus has leaned heavily on the famed 99x family of sneakers, a new release of the classic 1600 runner from the 1980s has surfaced this week, indicating NB could be shifting some of their energies elsewhere for the coming seasons. The 1600 is no stranger to special releases, having played host to the original Kith ‘Daytona’ release back in 2013. This week, the silhouette emerged in a new neutral color scheme, covering the show in soft ‘Beige’ tones. Featuring off-whit mesh and pale beige suede overlays, shades of tan are added in for more depth in the color palette, while a tiny hint of forest green in the midsoles completes the look.
