The London Marathon is proceeding in 2020, despite the original postponement due to COVID-19, and to celebrate, New Balance has worked up a special set of colorways of the 1500 runner, honoring the 40th anniversary of the legendary race.

While the global pandemic still has most of the United States on lockdown for the foreseeable future, the rest of the world its starting to open its doors again, particularly for larger events that are possible to host while social distancing. The London Marathon is a great example of such an event, originally scheduled for April of this year, and postponed until October 4th. Now, to meet the strange and trying times, the race will be broken up into three smaller events for participants to jump into, one of which could win you an incredibly exclusive pair of New Balance sneakers. In celebration of the marathon’s 40th Anniversary, New Balance has put together a two-pack of colorways of the classic 1500 runner for the new event. The first pair, which paints the silhouette in white and black with Ruby Red accents, will be available from New Balance the day of the race, while the second in black and gold, will require you to participate in the 1500 Pub Dash race. For this event, on October 3rd you will need to go for a minimum 2.62-mile run, making a stop at your local watering hole for a quick picture to share with New Balance, and you could be one of 40 winners selected to win the shoes and a special-edition “post-race care package”.

New Balance’s two-pack of 1500 colorways, designed in celebration of the London Marathon’s 40th Anniversary, will only partially be up for purchase for this year’s race. The “Ruby” red color scheme will be available directly from New Balance on October 3rd, while the black and gold color scheme will require you to participate in the 1500 Pub Dash race event to qualify for a pair.
