The New Balance 1300 is back. Continuing with its five-year release schedule, New Balance also appears to be working on a 2020 version of the shoe with a brand new midsole. Dubbed the 1300 RC, they are coming soon.

If you haven’t noticed yet, the New Balance 1300 silhouette is everywhere in the sneaker world right now, and for good reason. First releases in 1985, the 1300 was a legendary running sneaker thanks to a lightweight, durable upper and incredibly comfortable Abzorbz midsole. Over the years, the 1300 has become harder and harder to obtain, seeing as it only releases every five years, and in high-quality, low-stock drops. The 1300 returned for 2020 last week, with different versions made across the world continuing the rollout in the coming weeks. However, in keeping with New Balance’s current tradition, it appears there is a modernized version of the 1300 on the way as well. Teased by Kith founder and lead Ronnie Fieg, the New Balance 1300 RC features the beloved silhouette’s classic upper paired with a new split Encap Reveal midsole, popular amongst New Balance’s current lifestyle lineup. The first colorway also sports a shark blue upper for both the mesh and suede, with pale grey detailing to complete the look.

NEW BALANCE 1300 RC FIRST LOOK

New Balance’s modernized version of the classic 1300 silhouette, subtitled the RC, has not yet been announced for release, though given Ronnie Fieg’s early teaser, we can expect them to release from Kith and select retailers in the coming weeks. The updated 1300 RC will likely come with a price tag in the $140+ range, and be somewhat limited upon its initial release. Check out Ronnie’s in-hand photos below for a better look, and stay tuned to JustFreshKicks for more New Balance release news.

UPDATE 8/21/20: Despite first showing us this brilliant blue take on the New Balance 1300RC back in March, only this week did Ronnie Fieg tease the upcoming collaboration once more. This time via an old blog post from 2010, Fieg declared the 1300 his favorite NB silhouette of the time, as well as alluding to a new project coming soon.
