The beloved manga and anime series Naruto will be making its debut in the footwear world this year, as a new leak of a project with Asics suggests. Today, we have an early look at the Gel-Lyte III “Kakashi”, coming soon.

The world of Naruto is linking up with the world of footwear in 2022, bringing us sneakers themed after beloved characters from the manga and anime. Tapping Japan’s Asics as their collaborator, the project is likely to include a number of Asics sneaker options all decked out in various characters from the show, namely, Naruto himself. However, only one pair from the collection has been seen, which rebuilds the GEL-Lyte III in a ‘Kakashi’ themed look. This pair begins with a plain white canvas base layer before adding grey suede midfoot layers and blue suede overlays. The lace ornament features Kakashi’s Leaf village symbol, while the Uzumaki fūinjutsu spiral is present on the lateral toe box. Finally, a debossed Leaf logo on the heels and branded Naruto insoles complete the look.

Asics’ upcoming Naruto-themed collection has not yet been announced for release, though we are expecting them to launch sometime in Spring 2022. While the “Kakashi” Gel-Lyte III appears to be leading the pack, we expect a full slate of the manga/anime characters in shoe form. Check out the early photos below for a better look, and stay tuned to JustFreshKicks for more Asics release news.
