Miu Miu has kept its distance from the sneaker collaboration world, but as other high fashion labels continue to join the party, it appears the Italian label is dipping its toe, beginning with a New Balance collaboration on the 574.
The crossover between sneakers and high fashion is at its peak right now. While there is not a lot of time left until the trend of famous fashion labels collaborating with brand like Nike and adidas tips into the “late majority” of the trend bell curve, Miu Miu has us a pleasant surprise us this week with the unveiling of their partnership with New Balance. Debuted during the label’s runway show at Paris Fashion Week, the Italian brand will be teaming up with New Balance for a unique version of the brand’s classic 574 sneaker. Shown in two colorways, this 574 will be constructed from premium materials and feature a raw-edge construction, adding heavy fraying to each exposed seam on the upper. So far, pairs will come in either white or tan, with co-branded Miu-Miu/NB tongue labels.

The upcoming collaboration between fashion label Miu Miu and New Balance has not yet been announced for release, and will likely land sometime in the Spring/Summer season of 2022. Featuring at least two colorways of the raw-edged 574, pairs will likely be limited and feature an elevated price tag, due to the status of Miu Miu. UPDATE 2/22/23: Over a year after they were shown during a runway show, Miu Miu’s collection of New Balance 574 sneakers are here. Featuring four colorways of the denim style and another in pre-aged Nappa leather, pairs are currently available via the brand’s website, with hefty price tags of $950 for the denim and $1,020 for the leather pair.
