High fashion labels have infiltrated the world of sneakers over the past few years, with each seemingly choosing a brand of choice for high-end versions of iconic silhouettes. This week, news that Loro Piana is joining the trend surfaced, alongside images of an ultra-premium pair of the New Balance 990v6, coming soon.
High fashion versions of some of our favorite sneakers have become quite common in the last few years. From Dior’s take on the Air Jordan 1 to Margiela’s ongoing projects with Reebok, more big-name labels are adding their hat to the ring on a yearly basis. New Balance has even established seasonal collections with Miu Miu, which has brought us some unique and high-end pairs of the 574 and 530 models. Now, another major fashion label has joined forces with the Boston footwear brand; Loro Piana.
New Balance’s catalog of iconic sneakers has been a go-to source for high fashion collaborations. The brand’s signature “dad” shoe style has become a huge inspiration among luxury brands in recent years, so it tracks that they go straight to the source for collaborations. This year, Italian label Loro Piana is teaming up with the Boston brand to give their take on one of their newest models, the 990v6. The shoe has a warm grey shade across its mesh and suede upper, with hints of a brick red shade for a pop of color. However, they are expected to come with a whopping price tag of $1,000.

The debut release from Italian luxury brand Loro Piana and New Balance has not been announced for release yet, but is currently expected to drop before the end of 2024. The soft neutral grey style will likely be available in limited quantities from both partners, with a price tag of $1,500.
