Joe FreshGood has helmed some of the best releases from New Balance over the past few years, and this season the Chicago creative is back with the new ‘Beneath the Surface’ pack of the 610 and Rainier boot.
Chicago’s Joe FreshGoods has taken the sneaker world by storm, after his debut collaboration with New Balance in 2020 with the 992. Since then, he has released a number of projects with the Boston footwear brand, and recently added Vans shoes to his repertoire. This week, he unveiled his new collaboration with New Balance, dubbed the ‘Beneath the Surface’ pack, featuring the 610 trail runner as well as the retro Rainier hiking boot. Having designed his own camouflage pattern, the look is applied to both models, coloring them in matching colors typically seen in hunting gear. First up, the 610 comes in two colorways, one orange and one tan. Both feature a mesh base layer printed with camo, and leather overlays with a squiggly pattern embroidered across the overlays. The orange look mixes in shades of olive with black accents, while the tan look adds black and orange accents. Finally, the Rainier features a brown, green, and black base layer with lush olive suede overlays, metal eyelets, and a custom tongue tag.
JOE FRESHGOODS X NEW BALANCE ‘BENEATH THE SURFACE’ PACK RELEASE INFORMATION
The latest project from Joe FreshGoods and New Balance has not been given a set release date yet, though the Chicago designer stated that the ‘Beneath the Surface’ pack will arrive sometime in April 2023. Featuring two colorways of the 610 trail runner and the Rainier boot, pairs will likely drop first via JFG channels, before a wider release from the New Balance website. UPDATE 4/25/23: New Balance has announced their release of the ‘Beneath the Surface’ pack from Joe FreshGoods, scheduled for April 28th, 2023. The olive green Rainier boot and the Latte brown 610 are both set to release, for $220 and $160, respectively.
UPDATE 4/17/23: New photos of the Joe FreshGoods x New Balance 610 have emerged today, courtesy of Arab Lincoln. The images give us a better look at the details of the model, down to its custom camouflage print. The Rainer Boot is missing from the collection, though they are all expected to arrive sometime late this month.
