JJJJound and New Balance are reuniting for another entry in their beloved 99x series this year, following up on 2020’s twin colorways of the 992. This time around, JJJJound and co. are turning their attention to the 990v4, coming soon.
Canadian basics manufacturer JJJJound first teamed up with the American footwear brand New Balance in 2018, delivering a tonal brown take on the classic 990v3 that helped skyrocket New Balance’s popularity among sneakerheads. Then, last year, the two followed that release with dual colorways of the 992, dominating nearly every single “Sneaker of the Year” conversation as people debated which colorway was truly “better”. Now, the two partners have given us an early look at a tertiary collaboration, this time featuring the 990v4 as the canvas. While JJJJound has only shared one image of the new shoe, it gives us a good look at what appears to be an entirely navy blue construction, though the varying shades could easily be interpreted as black. The tongues feature American flags and 990v4 branding, while the insoles are emblazoned with JJJJound’s signature typeface.
