Last year J. Crew dug into New Balance’s archives to revive the 1400, a vintage runner originally built for gram shaving and stability over distance. Released in four colorways, this week they are combined into one for the J. Crew 1400 “Mashup”.

The partnership between fashion label J. Crew and New Balance first kicked off in 2010 and has packed dozens of top-tier releases into the decade since. While not every project catches a ride on the sneaker hype train, J. Crew and New Balance have quietly been pushing out exceptional collaborations in recent years, with the upscale retailer even reviving the classic 1400 silhouette in 2020 for a limited run of tonal colorways. This most recent project is the inspiration for the pair’s first release of 2021, the New Balance 1400 “Mashup”, which combines all four tonal colorways of the J. Crew 1400 into one. The multicolor rendition begins with a navy blue toebox before transitioning to hunter green quarter panels with silver reflective 3M ‘N’ logos. The heel counter comes in New Balance’s signature grey tone, while a light tan collar and heel complete the look.
