Asics list of collaborative partners has expanded significantly in the last few years. One of the most recent additions is South Korea’s IAB-Studio, a design team founded by rapper Beenzino. This week, the two present their first full-fledged collection, titled “AI-2”.
Founded by rapper Beenzino, South Korean’s IAB-Studio has grown to become one of the country’s premier streetwear brands, delivering a wide range of basics and exciting apparel pieces through their many collections. For their latest project, the “AI-2” capsule collection, IAB took a closer look at the GEL-1090 runner that resurfaced as a retro model last year. The sporty running shoe will come in your choice of two colorways, which are essentially mirror images of each other and their odd color blocking. The first pair begins with a tennis ball-yellow base for the 1090’s mesh layers, with matching overlays making up the Asics logos. The mudguard, toebox, and midsole on this pair are decked out in black, with colorful hits of blue and red adding a bit of flare. The second pair in the two-pack is pretty much the exact opposite, featuring a black-based upper with highlighter accents and midsole.

The latest project from Beenzino’s South Korean IAB-Studio and Asics, featuring the GEL-1090, has been scheduled to drop later this week, on January 15th, 2021. Featuring two colorways of the 1090 and a small assortment of apparel, the collection will be available from a new collaborative website specifically for this project.
