GmbH and Asics are back with a new body of work. After the two released their tonal colorways of the Gel Kayano 5 last year, fans have been excitedly waiting for what’s next. This week, we got our first look at the brand’s FW20 fashion show.

Founded in Berlin, Germany several years ago, the idea of GmbH is displayed quite prominently in its name, though you wouldn’t immediately know it. GmbH is more commonly known in their country as the acronym for “Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung” which basically means company or corporation in German. Under the semi monotonous name, they’ve produced a staggering body of work, centered largely on elevated basics through unique cuts or technical aspects. Heading into their second year of collaborative projects with Japan’s Asics, the two gave fans a first look at this year’s efforts during their Fall/Winter 2020 fashion show earlier this week.

The last we saw from GmbH and Asics was a tonal pair of the Gel Kayano 360, teased by the label’s lead designer Serhat Isik. Now, things appear to be changing up a little bit, as the German brand leans mroe to the unordinary. First up, the new collection will include a highly modified take on the Gel Quantum 360, a modern-day version of the Kayano 5 that inspired the new 360 technology. The shoe features a massive number of overlays and details in the upper, included a semi-shredded toebox for a segmented look. The project will also include a modified version of the Gel Kinsei runner, though the resemblance stops above the midsole, as the upper has been reworked to resemble a driving loafer.

GMBH X ASICS GEL 2020 COLLECTION FIRST LOOK

The next footwear capsule collection from Germany’s GMBH and Japan’s Asics has not yet been announced for release, though we do not expect them to hit shelves until later in 2020. The collection thus far includes three colorways of a modifid Gel Quantum 360, and a two colorways of the mashup-style Gel-Kinsei that is yet to be named. Check out the images below for a better look at the collection, and stay tuned to JustFreshKicks for more Asics release news.

UPDATE 10/1/20: GmbH has shared a closer look at one pair of their upcoming Asics Gel-Nandi 360, showing off a tricolor asymmetrical build on the modernized runner. While an official release date or price have yet to be announced, the teaser post on Instagram hinted that the new collaboration would be dropping soon.
