Converse has unveiled an exciting new version of the classic Chuck this month, bringing Nike’s accessible FlyEase technology to the silhouette to create the Chuck Taylor All Star CX FlyEase, coming soon.

Nike’s FlyEase technology originally debuted in 2015, in the form of Nike Basketball shoes that ditched the traditional lacing system in place of an accessible heel zipper, with the intention of providing an easier solution to footwear for differently-abled peoples. Since then, FlyEase has come a long way, trying out different types of entry and closure systems over the years. Pioneered and led by Tobie Hatfield, FlyEase is now making its debut on a Converse shoe this month, fully bridging the gap from sportswear shoes to lifestyle models. The FlyEase system for the Chuck Taylor is one of the latest innovations from the Swoosh, attaching a stiff plastic heel clip to a collapsible heel, allowing the wearer to simply step down on the contraption and slide their feet in, and boom, you’re wearing sneakers. Combined with an extra-padded tongue and some sleek colorways, the Chuck Taylor FlyEase is making its worldwide debut in the coming weeks.
