Converse Japan has been leading the way on the brand’s most exciting releases, and this week, they’ve unveiled the latest interpretation of the Chuck Taylor All-Star, now outfitted with React midsoles and a corduroy patchwork upper.
The Chuck Taylor All-Star has renewed its popularity in the last two years, as both sneaker and fashion trends drift back to retro and vintage styles and classic silhouettes. So, naturally, the Converse Chuck is at the head of the pack, still widely regarded as one of the most popular pieces of footwear of all time. For the latest iteration, Converse’s Japan team got its hands on the new patchwork iteration, applying some material changes for an exciting new release. First, the upper is rebuilt in four main sections, each bearing a different tonal shade of corduroy, blocking the Chuck Taylor in brown, olive, cream, grey, and pale pink. This pair is asymmetrical, so the two shoes do not feature matching color blocking. As an added bonus, this All-Star features a React midsole buried inside, though it is currently unclear whether it is just a drop-in insole or a fully cushioned React product.
