Converse’s Chuck Taylor All-Star has come in many shapes and sizes since its debut in 1962, rebuilding the classic court shoe with new materials and colorways. This week, Converse is introducing the “Vibrant” knit pack, featuring 3D textile uppers.

The Converse Chuck 70 has been the brand’s mainstay in the past two years, taking over their lineup as the premier iteration of the classic Chuck Taylor All-Star basketball shoe. Thus far, the Chuck 70 has released in dozens of colorways and a handful of special collaborative iterations, all with their own unique twist. Now, the Boston-based brand is trying some new with the Chuck 70 by adding 3D knit textile uppers. While this is not the first time the Chuck Taylor has adopted a knit upper, (see: 2017’s Flyknit Chuck II) it certainly is the most enticing version we’ve seen yet, covering the silhouette in wave-like ripples showcasing various thread colors around the shoe. Launched earlier this week, the Vibrant Knit Chuck 70 comes in two colorways, one mixing shades of blue, purple and brown across the entirety of the shoe, while the other features three distinct colors across the Chuck’s three main panels in orange, pink, and purple.
