While Converse has always played a huge part of basketball’s history, its been a while since the brand’s Star & Chevron logos had a large presence on the NBA court. Its time for that to change. Check out the All Star Pro BB, launching next month.

The Converse All Star is most commonly known today as one of the most popular lifestyle shoes available on the market. While many are familiar with the shoe’s status as a cultural icon, a fraction of those are aware of the shoe’s real footprint in history, on the basketball court. The All Star carried its looks from the court to the streets, while the technology and styling paved the way for nearly every basketball since.

The new All Star Pro BB has been rehauled entirely for the modern athlete. Nike’s Quadfit mesh is used in a single layer throughout the upper, which mimics the feel of the original canvas material but with more support. The midsole comes in the form of a React insert, which nestles into the modern day cupsole built for traction and durability. The original All Star’s DNA is showcased in the form of the star badge on the medial side, and the Star & Chevron on the lateral sides, harkening back to the original Converse basketball silhouettes.

Converse’s new All Star Pro BB will hit retail shelves in May 2019, likely with an initial release exclusively through Nike. The price point has not yet been announced for the new court-ready silhouette, though due to the Swoosh-engineered technology inside these will likely be priced well above your standard Chuck Taylors.
