Converse Japan has been going off in recent months with special country-exclusive releases, and despite the world’s current situation, this month is no different. Earlier this week, the team released a special edition All-Star, celebrating the country’s flag.

Converse’s Japanese division has ramped up their output recently, as the Boston-based brand has recently invested more of their time and resources in the satellite operation. So far, the Japan team has experimented with different and rare materials, special Japan-exclusive collaborations, and more. Now, the team is cooking up something relatively simple, but incredibly well done to celebrate the country’s Rising Star flag. Titled the All-Star Hinomaru Hi, this release features a vintage version of the classic Chuck Taylor All-Star, complete with an off-white “US Originator” midsole, made to mimic the original ones used throughout the 20th century. The Japanese flag is represented on the lateral sides of the shoe, through an oversized red circle on the canvas collars.
