Charli XCX has long been a vocal supporter of Converse, frequently spotted wearing their iconic sneakers out and about. This week, after a successful tour and potential album of the year, the singer has announced an official partnership with the brand.
Converse has been kicking around since 1908, when the brand was founded in Massachusetts. Now owned by Nike, the brand still sticks to their bread & butter, simple, canvas sneakers with vulcanized rubber soles. They pioneered their iconic basketball silhouette in 1917, but it wouldn’t get its Chuck Taylor signature patch and name until 1922, at the request of the player himself. Fast forward to the 1960s, and they held an incredible 60-70% market share of basketball shoes, though this declined with the introduction of new brands like adidas and Nike. Now, the Chuck is a lifestyle classic, worn by all kinds of celebrities, and a current favorite of Charli XCX.
Cambridge, England’s Charli XCX is the pop star of the moment right now, thanks to her incredible BRAT album that has had a chokehold on pop culture all Summer long. The Grammy award winner is also a noted fan of Converse, citing them as her favorite shoes and bragging about her ability to wear them until they are falling apart. Luckily, that may not be the case anymore as she has inked a deal with the brand to create her own versions of their iconic silhouettes.
No releases from Charli and Converse have been announced yet, but we could potentially see their first collaborative product before the end of 2025. Until then, stay tuned to JustFreshKicks on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook for more of the latest sneaker news, release dates, and restock alerts.
