Asics’ Gel Series has been dominant in the cushioning game for years now, and 2019 is no different. This week, the Japanese running brand announced a new project with Thailand’s Carnival, which sees them decorating the Gel DS Trainer in a colorful “Muay Thai” theme.
Asics collaborative projects are always worthy of our attention, and their latest work is no different. Teaming up with Bangkok’s Carnival Store, the Japanese brand has crafted a unique new look inspired by the sport of Muay Thai. Using the sleek Gel-DS Trainer as their canvas, Carnival begins with an off-white mesh base layer for the upper, reinforced by cream-tinted suede overlays along the mudguard, quarter panels, and heel counter. The Asics Tiger stripes come in different colors for either side, using red leather for the medial panels and bold blue suede for the lateral sides. The mismatched blue and red accents are also added to the heel tabs to color code each shoe, while gold accents and vintage Asics branding completes the look.

Asics latest Gel DS Trainer, dubbed “Muay Thai” by Bangkok’s Carnival store is scheduled to release later this week on July 27th, 2019. The limited-edition color scheme has not been announced for a wider drop, but we expect them to appear on retail shelves soon.
