The New Balance 2002R is doing numbers for the Boston brand, selling out in nearly every style released so far. Now, the Boston brand has tapped artist Bryant Giles to deliver his take on the versatile runner, coming soon.

Earlier this season, we got an early look at a new collaboration between New Balance and artist Bryant Giles. Featuring the massively popular 2002R, Giles’ signature abstract style is applied across the canvas upper through embroidery. Now, the two have added a second pair to their project, this time in the form of the slip-on 2002R Mule that is gearing up to make its debut in the near future. Dressed in cream white and seemingly constructed from the same frayed canvas materials, the laceless modified version of the runner adds even more of Giles’ artwork to the upper, though this pair utilizes prints in favor of the more intricate embroidery process. The 2002R Mule also features removable velcro ‘N’ logos, which may indicate a bit of customization could be possible.

The upcoming project from New Balance and artist Bryant Giles now includes the 2002R Mule in addition to the olive green standard version of the silhouette, though a release for either has not been announced. This cream white pair will likely release from Giles’ personal store as well as select NB retailers for $150+. Check out the early images below for a better look, and stay tuned to JustFreshKicks for more New Balance release news.

UPDATE 7/8/22: The upcoming collaboration between Bryant Giles and New Balance has been scheduled to debut next week, on July 11th, 2022. The olive green 2002R Slip-On will launch initially from the GoneHomme website, before seeing a wider release on July 21st. Retailing for $160, the shoes are accompanied by three extra lace options, removable ‘N’ logos, and a limited-edition box.
