BEAMs and New Balance are back with another project, this time reviving a vintage NB shoe originally released in the 1990s. Known then by the COMP800 name, the sleek silhouette is back this month, now going by the new title of RC205.

The New Balance COMP800 runner originally made its debut back in 1996, the greatest year in footwear. Back then, the COMP series was New Balance’s premier line for distance running, performing exceptionally well in marathons and other high-profile races. Since then, the silhouette has mostly faded from memory, but obviously, they’ve just been hiding in an archive in Boston ever since. Now, the sleek runner is back. Now going by the name RC205, the lightweight silhouette is getting a makeover for its first-ever re-release, courtesy of Japan’s BEAMS. The new look begins with split-colored mesh for the base layer, constructed from black in the toes and grey in the heels. The RC205’s suede overlays along the mudguard and heels come in black, while grey leather makes up the quarter panels and ‘N’ logos to complete the look.
