ASICS’ updated Gel-Kayano 5 360 has made waves amongst the brand’s fanbase. Adding a full Gel midsole to the 90’s runner, the Kayano 5 360 is set to release in its first collaboration later this month with New York’s AWAKE.

Awake NY is not exactly a household name in the streetwear community, like some of its adjacent brands. You may have heard of its founder, Angelo Baque, the former brand director of Supreme, who started Awake back in 2012. In their own words, the brand “captures the unique cultural spirit and sensibility of New York City. Awake NY is a reflection of the diversity that has defined the city’s cultural landscape. Simultaneously classic and contemporary, Awake NY evokes both the changing aesthetic vibrancy and timelessness of New York.” This ethos can be seen throughout Awake’s collections, which include bold, colorful graphic t-shirts opposite simple detailed logos on high-quality hoodies. This month, Awake is bringing their simple styling to ASICS for a new project on the Gel-Kayano 5 360.

Awake NY’s new project with Asics is almost here, and we can hardly wait. Using the newly revamped Gel-Kayano 5 360 as their canvas, the New York-based apparel brand has created two eye-catching colorways of the silhouette, which heavily contrast each other in color schemes. The first paints the layered upper in semi-reflective gold color, paired with a flat black midsole and black overlays joining the two. The second pair features a prominently grey upper, separated from the matching midsole by lime green paneling. Both pairs appear to feature a multitude of reflective 3M accents throughout.

The new collaboration between Awake NY and ASICS has not yet been announced for release, though the brand’s teaser on Instagram indicates they are “coming soon”. Both colorways of this limited edition Gel Kayano 5 are presumed to retail for more than their usual $150 retail price tag. Check out Awake’s teaser below for a better look at the contrasting colorways, and stay tuned to JustFreshKicks for more Asics release news.
