New Balance’s 850 has been making the rounds this year, appearing in numerous collaborations so far, and that trend is not stopping anytime soon. This week, Tokyo’s atmos are readying to release their take, a bold new outdoor-inspired look for the 850.

The New Balance 850 has easily been one of our favorite shoes to cover for the last year or so, since its initial reintroduction to the brand’s arsenal. It started with Aimé Leon Dore, who were given exclusive rights to release the coveted vintage model in the beginning of the year. Then, slowly, the 850 continued to arrive at retailers. After ALD, it was Concepts, the SNS, until, finally, anyone could get their hands on a number of colorways. Now, for 2020, New Balance has upped the ante, continuing with the slow circuit of releases, but this time, most are collaborations. This month’s project comes to us all the way from Tokyo, where atmos is taking inspiration from the great outdoors for their green and brown-tinted colorway. The look begins with a mix of brown mesh and ripstop nylon for the base layer, before reinforcement is added in the form of light green suede overlays, then doubled up with a darker, forest green layer. Brown suede makes up the lacing system, which holds orange rope laces in place, while an orange NB logo on either heel adds a bit more color. Finally, mismatched purple and green insoles complete the look.
