ASICS had a big year in 2019, from the relaunch of their smash hit Gel Kayano 5 to exciting projects with brands like Awake NYC, they’ve been all over the map. This week, the Japanese brand revived a cult classic to continue the streak.

ASICS’ Gel-Lyte series has dominated their status in the sneaker world for years now, thanks to the silhouette’s unique design choices and classic looks. However, the brand has filled in the gaps between those models quite efficiently, though they never get quite as much light as the more popular ones. However, this week ASICS quietly released a vintage sneaker from the same era, the Lyte. Basic in nature, the Lyte mixes soft textiles with suede overlays for a sleek look. The latest colorway, referred to as “Classic Retro Tokyo”, keeps things simple as well with a predominantly tan upper with the ASICS logo in orange, and additional blue accents.
