Asics’ archive of running sneakers is filled with some beloved designs, which the brand regularly uses for inspiration or simply for a flat-out retro. This month’s latest release is the latter, bringing the GEL-Preleus back to life in new colorways.

The Asics GEL-Preleus was first introduced to the Japanese brand’s lineup in the early 2000s. Built for running, the Preleus came to be through an unusual design process, where one designer handled the upper and the second the midsole, coming together to create somewhat of a hybrid design that meshes together very well. Both pieces feature wave-like curves throughout, which are inspired by the free-flowing movement of clouds. Constructed from a mesh base layer, the GEL-Preleus adds stability and support through the additions of synthetic and leather overlays, as well as plenty of GEL cushioning in the midsole for comfort. Originally retroed last year in collaboration with Angelo Baque’s AWAKE NY, the GEL-Preleus now returns in a handful of new color schemes, designed for both men and women.
