Asics has unveiled a new premium collection of the Japanese brand’s footwear this month, casting two of our favorite silhouettes in upscale materials, adding quilted satin and paisley patterns to the GEL-Lyte III and GEL-MC Plus.

Asics’ penchant for producing premium editions of their classic running shoes are a constant source of incredible sneakers. This week, the Japanese brand has unveiled a new collection highlighting two ’90s running shoes, the GEL-Lyte III and the GEL-MC Plus, applying a wealth of luxurious materials and adding a healthy dose of paisley patterns to pay homage to Japan’s affinity for the plant-like pattern in fashion. Featuring a total of four pairs, the Paisley collection casts each silhouette in both vibrant purple and smooth black color schemes, all four of which follow the same basic design. The shoes begin with a quilted base layer for the upper on the lateral sides, while the namesake paisley patterns are kept hidden on the medial sides of each shoe. Uppers are then reinforced by soft suede overlays for a subtle finish.
