Asics’ fan-favorite GEL-Lyte III sneaker is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and the Japanese footwear brand is rolling out a whole year of special releases for the occasion. This week, a new “Triple Black” adds a new monochromatic option.

As 2020 edges closer to its end, so does the 30th anniversary celebration of Asics’ famous GEL-Lyte III sneaker. Established in 1990, the pivotal running shoe has remained a hallmark of the Asics brand ever since, thanks to its incredible performance on the road as well as its timeless style and unusual lineup of color schemes. To celebrate the retro silhouette’s anniversary, Asics has been rolling out new colorways all year long, their latest arriving in stores just this week. Adding to the brand’s current lineup of monotone colorways, the most recent GEL-Lyte III to hit Asics retailers paints the smooth suede upper entirely in black, from mesh base to suede overlays. Even the laces get an upgrade, receiving a waxed treatment to complete the look.

Asics’ latest colorway of the legendary GEL-Lyte III released earlier this week and is still readily available directly from Asics’ website. The sleek new triple black color scheme comes with the usual price tag of $110, with a wider release expected in the coming weeks.
