In a surprise announcement this week, Asics has unveiled their follow up to 2019’s ‘Academic Scholar’ pack. Featuring a new purple & green color scheme, the GEL-Lyte III and GT-II are both coming soon.

In 2019, Japanese footwear brand Asics debuted the ‘Academic Scholar’ collection, a three-piece footwear range sporting matching collegiate colors of burgundy, navy, and green. Now, three years removed from that original release, Asics is back with a fresh take on the Scholar project, as well as an eye-catching new color palette. Featuring the classic GEL-Lyte III and the more archival GT-II, both silhouettes are sporting a refreshed take on the collegiate color scheme. The GLIII from the pack begins with a forest green base for the shoe’s quarter panels and toe box, while white suede mudguards and deep indigo lacing overlay add more color to the look. Asics’ logo is presented in the same purple indigo tone, while a bright yellow inner lining completes the look. The GT-II is a little simpler, beginning with a bold indigo underlay for the bulk of the shoe, before adding forest green leather accent layers.

Asics’ next iteration of their ‘Academic Scholar’ pack, which last released in 2019, has been scheduled to debut later this week, on April 1st, 2022, with the release of the GEL-Lyte III OG. Then, the GT-II will drop sometime in June. Both pairs will be avialable from Asics and select retailers for $120 and $110 respectively.
