Alpha Industries and New Balance are both known for their classic, distinctive styles, so a collaboration between the two is hardly surprising. Taking inspiration from their own bomber jackets, the Alpha Industries 574 is coming soon.

New Balance has been producing some of the best sneakers in the world for well over one hundred years, all starting in Massachusetts in 1906 with a simple insert for better balance. In that time, the brand has expanded to cover the world over, providing footwear options for just about every sport on the planet, and then some. Alpha Industries brand origins are similar, though in an entirely different field. Founded in Tennessee in 1959, the brand was initially producing its now-famous outerwear via Department of Defense contracts for the Navy and Air Force, before entering the consumer market to sell its military-inspired apparel to the masses in the 1970s. Now, the two brands are putting their 150+ years of experience together for a new project featuring the classic 574 runner. Taking inspiration from the Alpha MA-1 bomber, their iteration of the 574 begins with a dusty blue Cordura nylon base layer, before adding suede overlays in a faded military green. Gunmetal grey midlayers stick out in between the two, while a series of interchangeable New Balance ‘N’ logos add a bit of customization to the shoe.
