Aimé and New Balance are back. With their last project, the 997, starting to earn a few “Sneaker of the Year” nods, the two have announced their follow, which sees them working on a bright colorway of the legendary 990v2.

The last time Aimé Leon Dore collaborated with New Balance, thr project turned the sneaker world on its head. Fast forward a few months, and the shoe has earned a place on Complex’s 2019 Top 10 list, elbowing it’s way into an unexpectedly low #7 spot (though if we’re being completely honest most of the list is crap). This new comes just days after the New York City-based lifestyle brand teased their next project with Boston’s New Balance, in a strikingly similar fashion to their 997 release. The teaser shows an elderly woman dressed from head to toe in an incredible Aimé Leon Dore outfit, carrying an umbrella, groceries, and sporting an eye-catching pair of the New Balance 990v2. Dual branding on the bottom confirm the project, which at this point, is very much still in the dark. Other than the fact that the silhouette is the 990v2 and comes in blue with yellow accents, there is no information available. Based on early reactions to the teaser, this will also be a near-impossible release to get a hold of.

The Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 990v2 has not yet been announced for release, and given the timetable of their last project, we may not see this pair hit shelves for at least a few weeks. The special-edition collaboration is likely to carry an elevated retail price, and release exclusively from the New York City-based ALD.
