Aimé Leon Dore surprised us with a special announcement today, unveiling three new colorways of their New Balance P550 ‘Basketball Oxford’, releasing later this Spring.

New Balance’s 550 retro basketball shoe has been a force to be reckoned with since it first launched back in 2020. Debuted in a collaborative format with Aimé Leon Dore, the Queens, NYC-based brand founded by Teddy Santis, the 550 became an immediate hit. Timed perfectly, the retro style and clean colorways created the perfect storm for New Balance to dominate the market in the two years since. Now, Aimé has unveiled new colorways of their take on the NB 550, coming soon. Following the same color blocking as their predecessors, ALD’s new colorways dress the 550 in clean white leather uppers and ‘aged’ yellowed midsoles, while accent colors come in dark brown, olive green, and deep burgundy. While this is the third in a series of 550 releases from ALD, it marks the first under which founder Teddy Santis is serving as New Balance’s creative director, meaning there are likely plenty more projects in the works for 2022.
