Reebok’s collaborative side has seen a new light in the past few years, with regular drops from exciting partners around the world. This week, South Korea’s KANGHYUL unveiled their first signature Reebok, titled the Premier Modern.
Reebok’s fashion collaborations were some of the most exciting releases to pay attention to in 2019, as the United-Kingdom based athletic brand dropped project after project with high-profile collaborators like Nanamica, Cottweiler, and Angus Chiang. This trend is continuing into the new decade, as Reebok is already showing off upcoming projects with AWAKE NY, Billionaire Boys’ Club, and now, KANGHYUK.
Based in South Korea, KANGHYUK was founded in 2017 by Kanghyuk Choi and Sanglak Shon, two Korean-born designers who honed their craft at the prestigious Royal College of Art in London. Now, after almost ten collections over the past few years, KANGHYUK is diving deeper into their ongoing collaboration with Reebok, premiering their first signature model during a fashion show earlier this week. Titled the Premier Modern, the new silhouette takes inspiration from vintage Reebok runners, making use of over-the-top layering for an enticing look and feel. So far, the Premier Modern has only been previewed in an all-black colorway, which perfectly shows off the shoe’s varying TPU layers and aggressive tooling.
The upcoming collaboration between South Korea’s KANGHYUK and Reebok has not yet been announced for release, though they are expected to land at retailers sometime during the Summer. The special collaboration will likely come with a price point somewhere in the $200 range, and release from select KANGHYUK retailers.
