Australian label Song for the Mute is breaking their usual seasonal program with adidas for a new sneaker release. Taking on the EVO SL running shoe, their “Dove Grey” edition lands later this week.
Starting in 2022, Song for the Mute has been working with adidas on regular seasonal collections, dropping new sneaker styles for each Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter fashion cycle. The biannual releases are often previewed during SFTM’s runway shows during global Fashion Week events, and each new Three Stripes model gets a numbered designation to denote its place in their growing lineage. We are currently awaiting the release of their SFTM-010 and -011 models, the Samba Decon and SL72 Pro, respectively. Those pairs are expected to land on shelves during Fall ’26, but before then, SFTM and adidas are breaking their seasonal cycle for a special release.
The adidas EVO SL is the Three Stripes’ latest performance running shoe to cross over into beloved lifestyle sneaker territory. Following the playbook that made the UltraBoost incredibly popular, after initial impressions of the EVO were strong, adidas handed the reigns of the shoe over to their many collaborative partners. BAPE, The Whitaker Group, Star Wars, NAKED, and atmos have all taken a crack at the sleek runner bringing a variety of unique styles to a standard-issue running model. Now, Song for the Mute is joining the extensive lineup to present their “Dove Grey” edition this week. Cast in a palette of entirely grey shades, SFTM adds hand drawn graphics to the silhouette on both upper and sole for a more personal approach to collaboration that has not appeared on their other adidas releases. Florals, SFTM branding, and a “Run Run Run” mantra at the toe give the EVO SL a home grown appeal new to the silhouette.
