Jordan Brand’s “Sashiko” releases have been some of their most sought-after pairs this decade. Today, the Air Jordan 6 has surfaced donning the traditional Japanese repair technique, coming soon.
Sashiko stitching techniques have become quite commonplace in the world of sneakers over the past decade. The traditional Japanese needlework style is typically used for patching holes in fabric, applying a replacement piece and then joining the two with intricate, dense stitching patterns, which add style and wabi-sabi to the piece. Jordan Brand has grown particularly fond of bringing sashiko styling to their iconic basketball shoes, starting in 2020 with the Air Jordan 4. This year, the Air Jordan 6 will join the ranks of their mended silhouettes, presenting a new and more subtle approach to the design. The pair comes in a “Pale Ivory” off-white shade for most of the upper, across its canvas base layer and leather overlays, which are secured via chain stitching around the edges. The sashiko detailing appears on the tongue badges with star detailing, as well as the heel counters, which feature a cutout to reveal patchwork denim underneath.

The latest sashiko-inspired release from Jordan Brand does not have a known release window yet, but is expected to land sometime in Summer 2026. The Air Jordan 6 gets the traditional Japanese technique treatment for this drop, dressed in a Pale Ivory shade with light blue accents. Pairs will be available from both Nike and select retailers, pricing is currently unknown.
