Air Jordan has been paying special attention to their female fans this year. Today, they showed their dedication to the cause with an announcement of the first-ever women’s exclusive collaborative model, with none other than Vogue.
Today is a special day in sneaker history. Earlier this morning, Jordan Brand debuted the first-ever collaboration just for women. The partner: Vogue. Since 1892, Vogue has distributed their legendary magazines that cover fashion, culture, and lifestyle with a heavy emphasis on women. The American publication will be the first Jordan brand collaborators to create their own exciting colorways made exclusively in women’s sizing. This is a huge step for the brand, who recently has been taking extra steps to cater to their female fans. The new pack of Jordan models with a signature Vogue touch may be the best yet.
Jordan Brand is going all out for their collaboration with Vogue, allowing them to utilize some of the best shoes from their catalog. First, the women’s Air Jordan 1 High Zip receives a luxurious makeover in two new colorways. Both pairs feature tonal color schemes, one in a blood-red tone and the other in Nike’s signature Sail hue. The zipper in front opens to reveal a red leather interior, with the collaboration’s namesake “AWOK” branding on the tongue. The abbreviation is an homage to Vogue editor Anna Wintour’s famous signoff when approving editorial or creative for the magazine, meaning Anna Wintour Okay. The zippers on the Jordan 1 High also feature an “Edited by Vogue” flight tag attached.
Vogue’s creative touch on the Air Jordan 3 may be the best new look for the shoe this year. While full images of the two colorways are not yet available, the editorial preview from Jordan Brand shares plenty of information. The upper on each of the Jordan 3’s is made of tweed, a rough woolen textile, and features a back heel counter featuring the AWOK moniker. The Air Jordan 3 will come in both red and black colorways, with black detailing and white midsoles. Finally, each shoe is complete with an “Edited by Vogue” hangtag.

The Vogue x Air Jordan AWOK collection will make its debut with the Air Jordan 1 High Zip on July 21st, 2018. The rehashed Jordan 1 will debut first at several high-profile retailers, before dropping on Nike SNKRS on the 23rd. Then, The Air Jordan 3 AWOK will continue the collection later on September 7th.
