The Basement is not your average Nike collaborator. It’s a Facebook group, from London, centered around shoes. It sounds wild, but they became so popular over the years that Nike began to collaborate with them on a partnership that continues next month.

The last time Nike worked with The Basement was back in 2017 when the brand crafted their unique take on the Dunk through a masterful mix of materials. Now, the London-based Facebook group-turned-brand is ready to unveil their next Swoosh masterpiece, the Air Max 90. The new look from The Basement is relatively neutral at first glance, covering the various layers of the famed Nike runner with slightly altered shades of grey, white, and cream tones. However, with this pair, the beauty is in the eye of the beholder. To make it your own, The Basement has included a number of options for both the lacing and Swooshes, which can be stuck over the existing mirrored version with the usual use of velcro. While the laces remain pretty tame in grey, white, and cream, the Swooshes offer up much more variety, coming in orange, bright blue, grey, and black.

The Basement’s latest project with Nike, this time using the Air Max 90 as a canvas, has not yet been announced for release, though they are expected to drop sometime in October 2019. The highly-customizable pair will retail for a cool $140, and it is currently unclear how widely available they will be.
