English musician Skepta first teamed up with Nike last year to release a Morocco-inspired Air Max 97 Ultra. Now, we have our best look yet at the grime artists next Nike shoe- the Air Max Deluxe, coming soon.
The Skepta x Nike Air Max Deluxe is a well-known secret by now. Word of the shoe first leaked online in the early months of the year, when Skepta and Nike dropped their limited edition hybrid Air Max. Then, by the beginning of the Summer, established leak account SoleHeatonFeet took to Twitter to announce the existence of the collaborative Air Max deluxe, along with a preliminary release date. It has been a long Summer of releases since then, with no word from Nike or Skepta on the state of this release. Until now.
This week, Nike held their Fall collection preview, a new custom for the brand to show off some fresh releases ahead of their online leaks. This year’s show included the rumored Skepta Air Max Deluxe, in its full retail glory. The new collaborative sneaker features a static graphic print all across the upper, giving the appearance of a malfunctioning TV. The lateral side of the toe box features a time and date stamp of 12:05PM Jun 08 2014. While the official reason for this has not been noted, a quick google search reminds us that this is the day the UK artist dropped one of his hottest singles, That’s Not Me. In addition to the date and time script, the medial sides of the shoe feature the phrase “No Sleep on Tour”, perhaps a personal mantra of Skepta’s.

The Skepta x Nike Air Max Deluxe has long been rumored to drop sometime in August 2018, though this seems less and less likely as the month draws to a close.
