There is more to come from the now-famous collaboration between Chintose Abe’s Sacai and Nike. Earlier today, images of the fan-favorite LDWaffle surfaced on Instagram, showing off the sleek silhouette with a new double black upper.
The collaboration between Sacai and Nike has been one of the highlights of the sneaker world in 2019, thanks not only to the insane amount of hype behind them, but largely to the incredible concept behind the shoes. Similar to Chintose Abe’s main body of work with Sacai, the Nike project saw her delivering a double-layered take on two footwear silhouettes and a number of apparel pieces. The highlight of the collection was easily the LDWaffle, a sleek runner that dominated social media feeds all Summer long in a multitude of colorways, both colorful and simple. Now, it appears there are more Sacai x Nike LDWaffles in store for 2020. First teased earlier today via Instagram, the next installment in the ongoing mash-up series from Sacai and Nike introduces their famed LDWaffle in a new monochromatic color scheme, dyeing the entire upper in pitch black, and placing it atop of clean, dual-layered white midsole.
The latest colorway of Sacai and Nike’s ongoing work with the LDWaffle has not been announced for release, and are expected to arrive in stores sometime in 2020, if at all. The new look was first shared on Instagram by a French fashion publication’s editor-in-chief, Alec Levillain. As per usual, we expect the next generation of Sacai LDWaffles to retail for the same $160 price tag, and launch from a select list of premiere Nike retailers. UPDATE (1/3/20): Sacai’s next entry in their ongoing project with Nike has surfaced in new images, detailing how the all-black LDWaffle looks on feet. Alongside the new photos is a rumor that the shoes will release sometime early in 2020, likely February, though this has yet to be confirmed by Nike.
